A letter to our Wallis Family from Artistic Director Paul Crewes, who will be ending his six-year tenure at The Wallis at the end of December 2021:
Dear Friends,
We are so happy to welcome you all back to our beautiful building. After the last eighteen months, the need to return and share live performance again has never felt more essential. This is bittersweet for me, as I have decided to stand down as Artistic Director at the end of this year. These last six years have been a wonderful adventure, and I am so proud of what we have achieved artistically here at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. I have enjoyed bringing work to our stages from around the world, as well as producing and presenting exceptional work with Los Angeles-based artists. I look forward to continuing my relationship with The Wallis, (from the U.K.) for the first six months of 2022 as Artistic Advisor.
I will miss many colleagues and friends that I have worked with here at The Wallis. With their skill and expertise, we have built a reputation that we should be proud of. I am so grateful for the relationships formed with our artistic community, whether locally, nationally or internationally. To watch and celebrate their work has been the greatest honor. I also want to thank our fantastic supporters and donors who stayed with us through these difficult months and allowed us to return to create and present Theatre, Dance, Music and Film once again.
And finally, I want to celebrate our amazing audiences who come and see the work we put on our stages. Your loyalty is so appreciated and so essential. It has been amazing to be part of the early years of this wonderful Performing Arts Center. I wish it every success going forward, and hope to come back and visit soon.
THANK YOU,
Paul Crewes
